Brad came to Hartford and made his debut on WTIC-TV Channel 3 on September 28, 1958.  The Brad Davis Show was patterned after American Bandstand and was sponsored by Connecticut Milk For Health.  Brad was originally signed for 13 weeks – the show ran until 1969.  In 1969 Brad teamed with John Sablon for “What’s Happening”, an investigative news program.  That show ran until 1977.  During that time the show won a Columbia-Dupont Award for “The 9 Year Old in Norfolk Prison.”  What’s Happening also won an Emmy for the same investigative report.  The show also won the Ohio State Award for “Scandal Rides the Ambulance”, The Scrip – Harvard Award and the “Silver Gavel Award for, Hunger in Connecticut”.
In 1977 Brad moved to WDRC Radio, where he has been doing the morning program on AM 1360 for 31 years.  In 1984 Brad was given the National Governor’s Conference Award, after being nominated by Governor William A. O’Neill for his work with the homeless.  In 1990, working once again with Governor O’Neill, Brad started the Governor’s Care and Share program, which is in its 18th year. In 1997 Brad began hosting auctions and other affairs to raise money for various non-profit organizations throughout Connecticut.  He has been part of fundraising for the Hartford Stage, The Bushnell, The Connecticut Opera, The Warner Theater, The Greater Hartford Arts Council and the Palace Theater in Waterbury.  Brad has devoted countless hours of his time with fundraising efforts for the Connecticut Childrens Medical Center and the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.  Brad sits on the board of the St. Francis Foundation and the Mt. Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital.  Through his efforts these past 11 years, Brad has helped to raise 4.0 million dollars.
In 2007 in an effort to reduce crime in Hartford, Brad teamed with Judge Arthur L. Spada, former Public Safety Commissioner and other local notables to form “The Coalition Against Crime” to address the issue of violence and recidivism in the Capital City. In 2007, due to his wife’s love of the arts, Brad donated $25,000 to The Rosanna M. Davis Enrichment Fund for students in the visual and performing arts department at Bloomfield High School, to be used for the benefit of students to “open more possibilities in the arts through cultural experiences and private instructions.” In 2008 Brad founded “The Brad Davis Charitable Foundation Inc.” who’s purpose is to benefit the human family, community and artistic needs”, of the Greater Hartford area.
