PETER GIOIA (Chief Economist at the Connecticut Business and Industry Association) In his monthly call, Peter will discuss how global issues (China, Iran) are impacting Connecticut's economy.

DAVID LIGHTMAN (National Correspondent for McClatchy Newspapers) What does David see happening in the first GOP debate this week? Also, there's more and more buzz about VP JOE BIDEN getting in the 2016 race? Does he have a shot against HILLARY CLINTON? Is he too old? How can Hillary run against him, or does she just ignore him?

Wilton GOP state Sen. TONI BOUCHER Toni is the ranking member on the legislature's Transportation Committee, and will talk about a proposal to institute a "mileage tax" here in Connecticut. This tax would impose a large burden for many of the state's motorists.

EMILY TISCH SUSSMAN (Political Analyst and Campaign Director at the Center for American Progress) GOP CANDIDATES JOCKEY FOR POSITION IN FINAL DEBATE DASH Less than a week before a bushel of 2016 Republican presidential hopefuls square off for the first time in the Fox News/Facebook debates, billionaire businessman Donald Trump is holding firm to his primary lead -- while his lower-polling rivals battle for visibility. Trump, seemingly reveling in his role as instigator and bipartisan punching bag, opened up a huge early lead over the rest of the field in the most recent national poll. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also are polling consistently well. Rather, the battle is among those in the middle and back of the pack, competing for the last of 10 slots in the prime-time event at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena. The Aug. 6 debate event is hosted by Fox News, in conjunction with Facebook and the Ohio Republican Party. Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore was the latest, announcing his bid Thursday – making an already crowded field that much tighter. Keep in mind that it’s early – and based on past history, any one of them could end up with the nomination, and eventually be the next President. The real fight begins next week – as they share a stage – and some hard questions – for the first time.
