Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert has been suspended for the team’s play-in game against the Lakers on Tuesday night. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, sources said that “Gobert will serve a one-game suspension and is expected to return if the Wolves lose to the Lakers and play another play-in game, or advance into the Western Conference playoffs.”

The incident that resulted in Gobert’s suspension occurred during Minnesota’s final regular-season game on Sunday. Gobert was caught on camera swinging at teammate Kyle Anderson on the bench during a timeout, right after Anderson apparently told Gobert to “shut the f— up, b—-” during an argument. Despite Gobert being sent to the locker room, at halftime the argument between the two continued – at which point Minnesota sent Gobert home from the arena.

After the game, Gobert apologized for his actions on Twitter:  “Emotions got the best of me today. I should not have reacted the way I did regardless of what was said. I wanna apologize to the fans, the organisation (sic), and particularly to Kyle, who is someone that I truly love and respect as a teammate.”

Minnesota earned the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference and will travel to Los Angeles for the start of the play-in tournament. If the Timberwolves win, they will play the Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs; however if they lose, Minnesota will have another play-in game this Friday night.
