Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin said that the city’s Black Lives Matter mural was vandalized Saturday night. The mural which is located on Trinity Street, was originally painted in the summer of 2020 and is in the process of being repainted. Bronin said the mural was defaced with a swastika.

 

Police have identified the motorcyclist who died after being struck by a car in Torrington on Saturday night. Officers were called to the intersection of Winstead and South Road and found that a motorcyclist was struck head on when attempting a turn. 27 year old Jesse Christiano of Torrington was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver of the car stayed at the scene.


Hartford police are investigating after a hit and run accident in Hartford on Friday night. Crews were called to Hillside Avenue and Wilson Street after it was reported that a person was struck by a vehicle that left the scene. The extent of the person’s injuries are unknown at this time. 


The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden is planning to visit Connecticut this week.  He is expected to visit a gun safety summit at the University of Hartford on Friday June 16th. Officials say additional details on Biden’s visit will be released at a later date.


Last week Connecticut Superior Court Judges voted to lower the bail threshold for people accused of a crime while raising the number of people who are eligible for it. This means that starting next year the cash needed for accused criminals to get out on bail of $50,000 or less will be lowered.
