Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields was forced to exit Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a right hand injury. The Bears would go on to lose to Minnesota with a score of 19-13.

Fields was sacked by Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter on third-and-7 near midfield early in the third quarter. The QB tried to throw the ball away as he went to the ground, but his knee hit the ground prior to the release, causing Fields to land on his right arm. The third-year quarterback was favoring his hand and wrist area after the play.

Fields went into the Bears’ locker room and was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest, with rookie Tyson Bagent coming in to relieve Fields. On the third play of his first series, the undrafted free agent from Division II Shepherd University was sacked and fumbled, giving Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks the chance to scored to make it 19-6 in the third. Bagent later scored his first NFL touchdown in the fourth quarter, finishing with 83 yards and an interception on 10-of-14 passing.

After the game, Bears coach Matt Eberflus said that Fields wanted to come back into the game, but was unable to grip the ball. Eberflus added that X-rays were negative but that Fields would undergo an MRI on Monday.

Fields was coming off consecutive games with four passing touchdowns. He completed six of 10 passes for 58 yards and an interception before exiting Sunday’s game .
