The Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of their American League wild card series at Progressive Field, to advance to ALDS for second year in a row.

Catcher Dillon Dingler homered in the sixth inning to give Detroit a 2-1 lead, and a four-run 7th inning saw Wenceel Pérez drive in a pair of runs, helping to bring Detroit the win.

Detroit will face the Mariners in Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

The Chicago Cubs are advancing to the NLDS after beating the San Diego Padres 3-1 in Thursday’s Game 3 matchup of their NL Wild Card series at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Jameson Taillon had four scoreless innings for the Cubs, with four strikeouts; after which point the bullpen took it home. The Cubs offense included a bases-loaded, RBI single from Pete Crow-Armstrong, who went 3 for 4 in the game.

The Cubs will face the top-seeded Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series; Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday in Milwaukee.

The New York Yankees have eliminated the Boston Red Sox and will move on to the ALDS after their 4-0 win in  Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium on Thursday.

Rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler had 12 strike-outs and averaged 98.9 mph with his fastball through eight near-perfect innings to help bring the Yankees the victory.  On offense, Cody Bellinger had a double in the fourth that sparked a sequence in which six of seven Yankees reached base, with run-scoring singles from Amed Rosario and Anthony Volpe. Austin Wells’ grounder allowed two more runs en route to their 4-0 win.

The Yankees will face the Blue Jays in the ALDS, with Game 1 set to for Saturday at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
