Police have identified a man who died after striking a tree with his vehicle yesterday morning on Meriden Avenue in Stonington. 79 year old James Michlewski of Southington hit the tree just before 6:00a.m. The accident remains under investigation.
Three people were recently arrested as part of an investigation into a string of so-called street takeovers. 43-year-old Flor Hiram Santiago, of Meriden, is facing 10 charges. 37 year old Tednnessy William Torrellas Hernandez of Waterbury, and 20-year-old Hannah Bartolucci Massachusetts are facing street racing charges.
A Connecticut group says that they are planning to file a lawsuit as soon as Governor Ned Lamont signs new gun legislation into law. Norm Pattis, the attorney for We the Patriots USA says that their view is that firearm rights are fundamental. Lamont claims that a majority of people in the state support the legislation.
A New York appeals court is expected to rehear a case today that was filed by a group of Connecticut female runners who say it isn’t fair for them to compete against transgender athletes. About a year ago a three-judge panel threw the suit out calling their claims speculative.
