The Dallas Mavericks have completed an eight-player trade with the Washington Wizards, sending 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis to Washington as part of a major roster shakeup.

ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed the deal, writing: “BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, 2 first-round picks and 3 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN,” and later added, “Dallas is receiving a 2026 Thunder first-round pick and a 2030 protected Warriors first-round pick in this deal from the Wizards along with second rounders in 2026 (Phoenix), 2027 (Chicago) and 2029 (Houston), sources tell ESPN.”

Along with Davis, the Wizards are acquiring Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum. In return, Dallas will receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, and Marvin Bagley III, plus a sizable package of draft assets. The Mavericks are set to collect two first-round picks — a 2026 selection originally belonging to the Oklahoma City Thunder and a protected 2030 pick from the Golden State Warriors — as well as three second-round picks in 2026 (from Phoenix), 2027 (from Chicago), and 2029 (from Houston).

Davis, 32, had been the subject of trade discussions for weeks as Dallas reevaluated its direction following front-office changes earlier this season. He has been sidelined since early January with a hand injury and is averaging just over 20 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. The Mavericks, currently outside the Western Conference playoff picture, also held exploratory talks involving Davis with other teams before finalizing the agreement with Washington.

For the Wizards, the move adds another high-profile but injury-limited star to a rebuilding roster, following their recent acquisition of Trae Young, who has yet to play due to ongoing knee and quadriceps issues.
