When Don McLean’s “American Pie” hit the airwaves in 1971, the world came to know the day as “The Day The Music Died’ from the line in the lyrics which was in part inspired by the tragic event which took the lives of the four. Another line in the song reflected on the music of Buddy Holly & The Crickets.
